Mastering: The Final Frontier - have you ever left the studio excited about your brand new recording that sounded so great on the studio monitors, only to put it in your car's CD player and find it sounding flat and toneless?
Mixing the record is one of the steps in producing your recording, but to get that radio 'sparkle', you need to visit a mastering house, where the best EQ, Compression and Limiting software and hardware combine to pump your tune out to make it a radio friendly, smooth, tight and loud recording.
At The Front Room Studio we are equipped for digital mastering, and service a large range of clients for the local, insterstate and more recently, overseas markets. We have the highest quality Linear Phase Equalizers, Compressors & Limiters and some pretty cool tricks up our sleeve to combine their efforts!
How does it work? Simple - the client brings in their FULLY MIXED stereo tracks, which they are happy with and ready to put onto CD to send off to the CD duplication plant, and we take each of the stereo tracks, make sure that their relative levels, compression and EQ are correct, process all the fade ins, out and cross-fades, and create a 'RED BOOK' image for burning to CD. This means that you leave our mastering house with a 16-bit, 44.1kHz industry standard digital format CD to have duplicated and hopefully sell in the millions!
Mastering is a specific and precise process, and our rates differ from our recording rates, please email or phone for more information.
